WHY AREN’T THEY BUYING FROM YOU?

Artículo del blog: ¿Por qué no me compran?

Has this happened to you?

You’ve worked hard, opened your business with excitement, posted on social media, opened your doors with a big smile…
And yet, hours and days go by — and no one buys.
Or if they do, it’s not enough.

Trust me, you’re not alone.

I’ve been there. And the hardest part is not knowing what you’re doing wrong.
But once I started observing, asking, and listening, I realized that many of us make mistakes without realizing it — mistakes that drive customers away.

Today, I want to show you what those mistakes are (with real examples from Philly) and how to fix them starting now.
Because sometimes it’s not that your product isn’t good — it’s just that people don’t understand it or don’t feel connected.

1. You’re not clearly explaining what you sell

📌 It sounds obvious… but many businesses have unclear names, faded signs, or social media pages with zero descriptions.

🔹 Real-life example:
I passed by a store in South Philly called “Luz & Color.” I thought it was an art shop.
Turns out it was a nail salon — but there was no sign that said that.
I didn’t go in.

🎯 Ask yourself:

  • Does your business name make it clear what you offer?
  • Is your storefront or sign easy to understand?
  • Do your social media bios clearly explain what you do and for whom?

2. You’re not building trust

📌 Today, people need to trust you before they buy from you.
If your shop looks empty, your page has no reviews, or you never show your face… it’s hard for people to feel safe.

🔹 Real-life example:
A girl was selling cakes on Instagram. They looked delicious, but she didn’t show her face, no address, no phone number.
And I thought, “What if something goes wrong? Who do I contact?”
I didn’t order.

🎯 Ask yourself:

  • Do your clients know who’s behind the business?
  • Do you have testimonials or reviews that others can see?
  • Does your online presence inspire trust or raise doubts?

3. You’re not connecting emotionally

📌 If you only post about prices or discounts, you’re just another business.
But when you share real stories, emotions, and people’s problems — that’s when you connect.

🔹 Real-life example:
I met a barber who started sharing short videos of his clients’ stories:
“Luis came in today — he has a job interview. Let’s get him ready to shine.”
People started sharing the posts. The result? His calendar filled up.

🎯 Ask yourself:

  • Are you telling stories or just pushing products?
  • Do your clients feel like part of something with you?
  • What emotions does your content create?

4. You’re not following up

📌 Sometimes customers are interested — they just need a little reminder.
And if you don’t follow up… they’ll forget about you.

🔹 Real-life example:
I once saw a pair of shoes I liked, but didn’t have cash.
The seller said, “If you want, I’ll message you when they go on sale.”
Two days later, she texted me.
You can guess what happened — I went back and bought them.

🎯 Ask yourself:

  • Are you collecting contact info from your customers?
  • Do you have a simple way to follow up?
  • Do you follow up in a helpful, not pushy, way?

5. Your customer service doesn’t wow them

📌 Sometimes the problem isn’t the product — it’s the experience.

🔹 Real-life example:
A friend went to a new restaurant. The place was cute, food was good…
But the server barely said hello. No “welcome,” no smile.
She didn’t go back. And she didn’t recommend it.

🎯 Ask yourself:

  • Do your customers feel welcomed as soon as they walk in?
  • Do you (or your team) smile and thank every buyer?
  • Are you treating each person like your best customer?

If customers aren’t buying, it’s not always because your product is bad.
Sometimes it’s because you’re not connecting, not building trust, or not communicating clearly.

The good news? You can fix all of this.

Start by looking at your business as if you were a new customer.
Ask yourself:

  • Do I understand what they sell?
  • Do I feel welcome?
  • Do I trust them?
  • Do I want to come back?

Because when you start asking the right questions… the right answers start showing up too.
